Access to some parts of the PCI configuration space is restricted to root on many operating systems, so the features of lspci available to normal users are limited. I can see networks, but I can’t connect to any of them.

What doesn’t work that makes you think you need a driver? If it takes a few days to get it working, it may just be that the wi-fi device in cpi laptop has no Linux drivers, in which case getting it to work might be tough.
